Beet (and some other species) in Spain and Portugal, 1989

Collectors: Frese and Letschert

Introduction

To meet the increasing demand for wild beet, a collection trip to Spain and Portugal was organised in 1989. An analysis of the beet genebank material showed that these areas had not been sampled yet. The collected material was also used in a scientific project of the department of taxonomy of the Agricultural University of Wageningen.
The collection trip was funded from a bi-lateral project of the Dutch-German Collaboration for the conservation of Plant Genetic Resources.

Besides the report we did not find collection forms or other original documentation of this mission. The beet material collected during this mission was transferred to IPK in 2001.
